Introduction. My Journal.

Hi

On Friday August 19th I will be starting my Lands End to John  O'Groat's bike ride.

The route pictured below is about 1050 miles using mainly B roads. Through some of this Islands most beautiful but challenging countryside.

The aim is to complete the journey in 15 Days which averages out at 70 miles per Day.

I will endeavour to keep this site updated with my training and competitive sports events as I do them.

Hopefully I will be joined by a few people for this epic bike ride.
At the moment I have a few friends joining me for a day or two on different parts of the ride and a full time companion in Angela Lewis who I believe has set up her own training/information blog.

As people join and I'm sure they will, I will update the journal and add them with their permission.

I plan to start  serious training after Christmas accompanied by  a diet. In my case this also means giving up Alcahol for a few months, As I find it easier to watch what I eat when I'm not inebriated !  I'm actually aiming for 4, but as the weight drops I may review this as I have a specific target in mind, to get to 11 stone. Which after Xmas will be roughly 1 and 3/4 stones to lose.

At the moment I only have two definate sporting challenges booked for the new year, but I will shortly be filling up the calendar with Swim races, Bicycle Sportives and Triathlons.

On Jan 22nd I have entered a cycle Audax with Michael my regular cycling buddy. This is called the 'Little Willy' and is a 120Km bike ride with Audax UK  http://www.aukweb.net/ from Chalfont St Peter to Pangbourne and back. On 8/9th  July a group of us are going to cycle the South Downs Way http://www.bikedowns.co.uk/
Which is a 100 mile 2 day off road bike ride on mountain bikes.
